Support our 2023-2024 season fundraiser

Our “Why”

Our organization’s first season with our new director, Paul Flight, and accompanist is underway, and it’s bringing significant changes. We have the opportunity to utilize this transitional period for even more growth and to further develop the professionalism and prominence of our organization, and ticket sales and member dues no longer suffice to meet the financial needs of UCAC. In order to embark on this exciting new chapter, we can use our 501(c)3 status to take advantage of several additional income streams, including individual donations, private grants, and civic grants.

Our “What”

Projects that will benefit from this funding include:

  • Hire a professional string orchestra for our Fall 2023 concert that will include works such as Magnificat by Johann Kuhnau and selected excerpts from the Missa Votive by Jan Dismas Zelenka. We are excited to bring you these Baroque Treasures with an authentic period orchestra. Collaborations with professional orchestras have been an integral element of UCAC's musical offerings in the past, and we would like to continue projects with professional musicians in the future.

  • Continue to support our new Chorus Administrator. It is unreasonable to expect a volunteer based organization to dedicate the extensive hours and specialized skills required to maintain an operation as established and complex as the UC Alumni Chorus without financial support. Furthermore, our Chorus Administrator will allow us to develop increased professional management and presentation, ensuring that UCAC's public reach and funding will continue to grow.

  • Employ a Choral Accompanist for weekly rehearsals and semesterly performances. UCAC requires a skilled choral accompanist to support our singers' development of musical precision, vocal technique, diction, intonation, expression, and other critical features of a fine choral ensemble.

  • Continue our Pre-Professional Internship Program, which provides a stipend to singers in our ensemble who have demonstrated great technical ability and dedication to choral music each semester. This program also provides professional experience to budding musicians, nurturing their success in the broader choral community.

  • Purchase sheet music for the ensemble. It is a substantial and necessary expense for our large group of singers—as well as a legal requirement—to compensate composers and publishers fairly for their work.

  • Technology and other services to streamline and improve UCAC’s operations and outreach, including domain-hosting, organizational, finance, design, and communications software that will increase our professionalism.
