UC Alumni Chorus Premieres Three New Songs for the Holidays

The UC Alumni Chorus is proud to share three of our new ensemble projects for this 2020 holiday season. Organized over the last few months in our virtual rehearsals, each piece was individually sung and recorded by members of our chorus and edited together into a virtual choral performance.

Visit our Performances page to watch our three new ensemble pieces:

Like many community choruses around the world, the UC Alumni Chorus has had to find new ways to celebrate the love of music without being able to sing together. Although virtual rehearsals will never be a substitute for rehearsing together in the Caesar Chavez Student Center, we are eager to share the virtual fruit of our labor. Not only does each piece serve to widen our chorus' repertoire, hopefully it also carries some personal meaning to the members.

“The thought behind these ensemble pieces is to continue to celebrate music as we rush into 2021 with a renewed hope for a quick return to in-person rehearsals and performances,” states UC Alumni Chorus Director Mark Sumner. “Enjoy all the good vibes we send your way and have a safe and happy holiday!”

The UC Alumni Chorus is a thriving 100 member ensemble, composed of Cal Berkeley and UC alumni, faculty and staff. Led by Director Dr. Mark Sumner, the chorus performs a wide variety of music, ranging from 16th century chamber choral works to traditional folk music and 20th century musical theater.
